ARTISTS STATEMENT
The inner space of common materials holds great mystery, drama, and beauty. Using
an optical polarizing microscope with a built-in camera, I photograph the interior
life of familiar objects and elements. Crystals, minerals, concrete, chemicals,
plastics, vitamins, ceramics, metals, alloys, and biological and pharmaceutical
materials, for example, are rich sources of exploration and discovery. I record
and capture the natural designs, inherent colors, symmetry, and the intricately
composed internal structures lying deep within these minute and uncharted worlds.
